Between 10am and midday on Saturday 19 March, we hosted an informal coffee morning at our regular meeting place, The Manor Hotel, Datchet. A number of local people popped by to find out more about our club and Rotary in general. We look forward to meeting them at a regular meeting soon.
Our annual quiz attracted 68 people and raised £743 for Rotary charities. With a fish/chicken and chips supper from the local chippy, a well stocked bar and a raffle - what more could you want? Great job!
On 11th-12th March 2016 our members had a lot of fun and were inspired by the speakers and networking with so many people making a real difference in their communities. We are immensely proud to be a part of Rotary International and the annual district conference is a solid reminder of our own club's achievements. See what we got up to at our twitter page @WindsorRotary What makes you proud? Conference website: www.rotary1090conference2016.co.uk Come along on Saturday 19 March, 10am to midday

We look forward to seeing you there. See Facebook event https://www.facebook.com/events/206109653081208/ On Saturday 16 April you will find us in Windsor Central Station offering FREE Blood Pressure checks to the passing public. Our Know Your Blood Pressure day helps people to understand the link between high blood pressure and stroke, other risk factors and what they can do to reduce their risk of having a stroke. What is high blood pressure?Blood pressure is the force that blood puts on the walls of your arteries when it is pumped around your body by your heart. It is measured with two readings – when the heart beats (systolic pressure) and when it relaxes (diastolic pressure). Do you know your blood pressure?High blood pressure is a contributing factor to 54% of strokes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. High blood pressure is the biggest risk factor for stroke that we can control, yet it has no symptoms and can affect people of all ages and lifestyles.
Measuring blood pressure is quick, simple and painless. ![]() Past Rotary International Director Allan Jagger honoured the Stabbins family on Tuesday with Paul Harris Fellow Awards to Adrian Stabbins, Past President of Rotary Club Windsor & Eton, his wife Veronica and their son Richard. The awards were presented on their behalf by Past District Governor Judith Diment at a meeting of Windsor St George Rotary Club at the Manor Hotel in Datchet. Allan said “Rose and I are delighted to provide the recognition points enabling your club to recognise the outstanding contribution to Rotary’s ideals by making Adrian, Veronica and Richard Stabbins Paul Harris Fellows. As Rotary International Director representing RIBI I was well aware of Adrian’s voluntary work as a Dental Surgeon and also for his inspirational leadership of Windsor & Eton club when President. ![]() As every year during the month of August, the Governor of the Castle graciously allows his personal garden, the Moat Garden, to be opened to the general public. This special opening only occurs during the weekends (Fridays and Bank holiday included) and for a £2 entrance fee, visitors can enjoy a green oasis within the castle walls. The money raised is donated to local Windsor charities and the marshalls are all volunteers from local organisations. Several members of the Rotary Club of Windsor St George will man the Moat Garden this summer, so if you're planning on visiting the castle, don't hesitate to come by and say hello. We'll be happy to tell you more about the Moat Garden while you're there. ![]() On Saturday 28th a few members of Windsor St George manned a double stand, with options for eveyone in the family. Half the stand was dedicated to fun family games, such as "toss the teddy bear" and American Corn Hole. The other half was a bric-a-brac sale, with plenty of interesting things to buy for just a few pounds. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate with us this year, but in spite of the heavy showers, members of the public supported the event and we raised some funds for our activities. See you next summer! This award recognises an outstanding contribution to the Stroke Association from an individual or organisation. Their support helps to improve the lives of all those affected by stroke Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) are committed supporters of the Stroke Association and our Know Your Blood Pressure campaign, organising an amazing 426 events on our behalf in 2013. This contribution meant that together we held over 1,100 events. During the year we tested the blood pressure of over 425,000 people referring almost 7,000 to their GP for further advice. Together, RIBI and the Stroke Association have organised Know Your Blood Pressure events for over ten years and with their support, the campaign is helping to prevent strokes and to save lives. ![]() On April 23rd we celebrated St George's Day with a black tie dinner at Stirrups Country House Hotel.
